Where and how to integrate Custom Pages in the community

A Custom Page placed in the right spot and accessible on the community is an informative page with great value.

Before you start, make sure the Custom Page has already been created. If not, check out this article to learn how to do it.

Access the Custom Page URL

All integrations described in this article require the URL of the Custom Page you want to integrate. To do so:

  1. In the back-office, go to Configuration > Custom pages
  2. In the list, click the icon to copy the URL of the desired page

Integrate the page

Choose an integration location

Depending on the type of content hosted on the Custom Page, several locations are available. Here is a quick overview to guide you:

Content

Recommended location

Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines

Bottom of the navigation menu

Contest rules

T&Cs section of a contest

Posting guidelines

Channel poster steps configuration

Occasionally featured page

Manual redirect homecard

FAQ, permanent reference page

Dedicated Custom Page channel

Available integrations

At the bottom of the navigation menu

Ideal for permanent content such as Terms of Use, Privacy Policy or Community Guidelines.

The link is visible at all times at the bottom of the community menu.

  1. Go to Configuration > Channels
  2. Scroll down to the Menu links section at the bottom
  3. Click + Add a link
  4. Enter the link name (e.g. Community Guidelines) and paste the Custom Page URL
In the T&Cs section of a contest

Adding contest rules directly in a contest is a good practice for member transparency, as well as from a legal standpoint.

  1. In Animation > Contests, create a new contest or edit an existing one
  2. In the T&Cs section, write a label (e.g. Contest rules)
  3. Select the label and click the link button in the text editor
  4. Paste the Custom Page URL
  5. Choose the display mode: pop-up or redirect
In a channel's poster steps configuration

You can guide members by integrating a link to posting guidelines directly in the poster steps description.

  1. In Configuration > Channels, click the icon to edit the desired channel
  2. Scroll down to the Poster steps configuration section
  3. As with contest T&Cs, write a label (e.g. View posting guidelines)
  4. Select the label and click the link button in the text editor
  5. Paste the Custom Page URL
  6. Choose the display mode: pop-up or redirect
Via a redirect homecard

You can highlight a Custom Page directly on the homepage using a manual Homecard. This is useful to feature a page on a one-off or seasonal basis.

  1. In Configuration > Home > Homecards, click + Add a card and choose Add a manual card
  2. Set the homecard name and (optional) the banner image to display (213x66 px)
  3. Enter the URL of the Custom Page the card will redirect members to
  4. Once the setup looks good, click Create homecard
Via a dedicated channel

Creating a Custom Page channel gives it permanent visibility in the community navigation

This is the recommended method for a FAQ or T&Cs that members need to access regularly.

  1. In Configuration > Channels, click + Add a channel
  2. Choose Custom Pages as the channel type
  3. Select the Custom Page to link from the dropdown list
  4. (Optional) Add a parent channel — it must be a Category Feed channel type
  5. Enter the channel title, icon and subtitle
  6. (Optional) Add a desktop and/or mobile banner image
  7. Set the channel visibility: Visible, Hidden, Limited or Link, then click Create

It is also possible to link a Custom Page in a channel description, in the T&Cs pop-up of a contest, or wherever V-HTML is supported (fields that accept HTML tags). For this use case, ask the Brand Communities team whether it is possible in the specific location you have in mind.
