Benefits of the Enhanced Search
The improved search experience helps users:
- Find content faster: results appear instantly while typing, and are grouped in dynamic tabs.
- Access more relevant results with a better understanding of their intent: enhanced search ignores "filler" words, special characters, verb conjugations, singular/plural, typos & misspellings.
- Refine results: with filters by channel or date, and sorting by relevance, popularity or recency.
- Discover similar content: only one result per publication is shown, reducing duplicates, and similar content is suggested when no exact match is found.
How it works
Step 1: Users types keywords
Members and visitors can search by keywords. The search is flexible, accepting keywords in any order.
When the user types keywords, results appear instantly with matching keywords highlighted in bold.
Step 2: Real-time suggestions
The search shows results in the correct tab dynamically. If no exact match is found, the "Did you mean" feature suggests alternative keywords.
Suggestions appear above the link to the FAQ or content creation options.
This helps users refine their search withour restarting, reduces frustration and speeds up content discovery.
Step 3: Filtering search results
Users can refine results using filters and sorting:
- By channel (one metapost channel selectable at a time)
- By date (start/end, editable or removable)
- By relevance (defautl)
- By recency
- By popularity
Step 4: Users actions from search
Members can interact directly from search results:
- Like, comment, reply, share, subscribe or report content
- Clickable usernames, roles and product details allow easy navigation
Users can engage with content immediately without leaving the search page, improving community activity.
