Social missions: creation and configuration

A social mission invites members to post on social media (Instagram, TikTok and YouTube) in exchange for rewards on the community.

Social posts that are part of a product test or another incentive campaign may be legally considered as ads. You can require specific compliance hashtags and/or wordings to reward only compliant posts.

Create a social mission

In Configuration > Gamification > Missions, click the + Add a mission button, then follow these steps:

  1. Fill in the mission information fields (title, description, reward, image and points to earn).
  2. In Conditions, choose Hashtag / Social post and select Instagram, TikTok or YouTube.

  3. List all required content and compliance hashtags with no spaces or special characters (except _).
  4. Optional | Enable the compliance wording and enter one or more wordings (10 maximum). Members will have to choose one and include it in the caption (e.g. In collaboration with @brand).
  5. Optional | Enable the option to place the wording at the beginning of the caption so that members place it before the See more fold.
  6. Optional | Set a period for the mission. The end date is set by default to one month.

If the mission starts as soon as it is created, we recommend removing the default date (creation date). This is particularly important if conditions are linked to roles or Custom Fields.

Automatic targeting of social missions

A CTA appears in members’ profiles to link their social media accounts and unlock more missions if:

  • The community has at least one social field configured
    (authentication or handle)
  • AND the member has not filled in at least one of these fields

In this case, all missions linked to a social network that the member has not yet linked are not visible to them.

They are automatically unlocked once the social network is linked.

This button is not displayed if:

  • The member has filled in all social fields configured on the community
  • OR no social field is configured on the community

This targeting helps to reduce frustration by displaying the missions that are actually available to the member, and encourages them to link their social profiles to unlock additional missions.

Mission validation

Once the mission is published, members can discover the mission conditions, then decide to participate in order to earn the associated rewards. Learn more about the member flow and validation process.

Validation criteria

To validate a social mission, the selected post must meet all of the following criteria (AND logic):

  • The caption must contain all required hashtags (configured content and compliance hashtags)
  • If one or more compliance wordings are configured: the caption must contain one of the wordings
  • If the option is enabled, the compliance wording must be placed at the very beginning of the caption (before the See more fold)
  • The member must have entered or linked the handle of their public Instagram, TikTok or YouTube account on the community before posting

Members can copy all required hashtags & the compliance wording in one click.

We recommend asking members to wait 5 minutes after publishing/editing their post before trying to validate the mission. This is the automatic moderation delay on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for a post to be approved and for changes to be visible.

How to check whether a member has completed the mission?

If a member contacts you because they have not been rewarded for the mission, you can easily check whether they met all the required conditions by using this checklist.

Otherwise, to avoid errors or complaints from unrewarded members, here are the points to check:

1. About hashtags 2. About the member 3. About compliance
  • Hashtags must not contain accents or special characters (other than _)
  • There must be no error in the hashtag, otherwise it will not be detected
  • The total number of hashtags, including compliance hashtags, must not exceed 5

Error messages are specific. Members can see whether it is a content hashtag, a compliance hashtag or the compliance wording that is missing or incorrectly placed.

Anti-cheating and post monitoring

Once a social mission is validated, the platform periodically checks that the associated post remains live and still contains the required compliance elements.

  • The post is checked daily for the first 7 days.
  • It is then checked twice a week between day 7 and day 30.
  • It is checked once a week between day 30 and day 60.
  • A final check is carried out on day 90, with daily retries until day 97 if needed.

If a post is deleted or no longer contains the required hashtags, it is flagged as non-compliant. This information is not visible in the back office and is available only on request via an internal data export.

No reward is automatically revoked. This mechanism is used to monitor and discourage fraudulent behaviour, not to automatically moderate posts.
