How to export and analyze contest-related data

If you want to track the performance of your contests: quiz or poll results, posts, or comments, you’ll find everything you need in the back office to collect and analyze this data.

Access contest statistics in Stats > Contests, then select the desired subsection (Contests, Posts, Participants, Quiz / Poll, Comments).

Then set the date picker to the desired period, and wait for the data to load. We recommend selecting a short time range to reduce loading time.

Contests

This board groups data from all contests, regardless of their type. It’s useful to get a global view of performance, evaluate contest success, and better understand community engagement.

Available data:

  • Contest information: Type, start and end date, contest name, and channel.
  • Participation: Total number of participants and new users who participated (last column).
  • Engagement: Number of posts, number of likes on posts, and number of comments.
  • Validation: Number of validated posts, if applicable.

For Quiz / Poll contests, this section may display a lower number of participations than what’s visible in the contest detail. This is due to the validation condition (e.g. answering 3 polls). Only members who met all participation criteria are counted here.

Posts

This board lists all posts created during contests, whether or not they are linked to a channel. It provides a detailed and organized view of the user-generated content from these contests.

Relevant contest types:

  • Linked to an existing channel: Users post in the contest channel to validate participation. After the contest ends, posts are moved to the related channel.
  • Independent post: Users post in the contest channel to validate participation, but posts remain in the contest details after it ends.

Available data:

  • Contest information: Contest name, start date.
  • Participants: User ID, username, and email of the user who posted.
  • Post: Post ID, post content (text and image link, related product and custom field if applicable), post date, and whether the post was validated.
  • Engagement: Number of comments and likes on the posts.

Apply the contest name filter to more easily view the data linked to a specific contest.

Participants

This board only includes members who fulfilled all the participation conditions, as defined during contest setup (e.g. posting, answering a quiz, responding to 2 polls).

Available data:

  • Client ID
  • User email
  • User nickname
  • User ID

Apply the contest name filter to more easily view the data linked to a specific contest.

Quiz / Poll

This board displays all quiz and poll respondents, whether or not they answered correctly. Users are counted as soon as they interacted with at least one element (a question or vote), even if the contest required multiple.

Available data:

  • Participant: Client ID, email, nickname, User ID
  • Answer information: Selected vote, question answered

Apply the contest name filter to more easily view the data linked to a specific contest.

Understanding quiz and poll data

In some cases, the number of participations shown in the general "Contests" board may appear incorrect.

Why?

  • Only complete participations are counted (correctly answering all the quiz questions or completing all required polls).

  • Duplicates may appear in the export (same UserID listed multiple times for answering multiple questions), which can artificially inflate the number of rows if not filtered.

Tip:

  • Use the Quiz / Poll section to view all respondents, whether or not they completed everything.

  • Clean your exports if you're performing detailed reporting.

Tip for advanced analysis

Right-click on a question in the chart and select "Show as a table" to open a detailed view: responses, number of votes, and related users. This view can also be exported.

Comments

This board displays comments left on posts from Quiz / Poll contests only. It helps centralize and easily track interactions and feedback from participants on those types of contests.

Available data:

  • Participant: User ID, nickname, email, client ID
  • Comment details
  • Parent ID

Apply the contest name filter to more easily view the data linked to a specific contest.

Export data

All data from the boards presented in this article can be easily exported to an Excel or CSV file for deeper analysis, data manipulation, or future reporting.

  1. Go to the desired section (e.g. Quiz / Poll). The export works the same way.
  2. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the table.
  3. Select "Export data" then choose the option that best fits your needs.

Duplicates may appear in the export (e.g. same user responding to multiple questions). Make sure to filter them based on your reporting needs.
