Notifications in your community keep users updated on their activity, like unlocking missions or receiving badges. These in-app alerts ensure users stay engaged without relying on emails or push notifications.
In-app notifications
In-app notifications are notifications that are automatically sent to the user only within the community, appearing in their notification center. They are based on users’ activity and not sent via email or web/mobile push notifications.
This is a list of generic notifications a user can receive (which can’t be deactivated)
Unlocked a new mission or performed an action
- Display the name of the mission or action.
- Redirect to the profile.
Unlocked certain permissions
Aafter fulfilling a condition other than "is registered." Permissions acquired through a role without conditions will not send notifications.
- Display the name of the permission: "power" in English.
- Redirect to the profile.
- Permissions that send notifications are:
Unlocked a new status
- Display the name of the status, the image if it exists.
- Redirect to the profile.
Received a badge
- Display the name of the badge and the icon (to be verified).
- Redirect to the profile.
Received a comment on one of your posts
- Display the name of the person who commented.
- Link to the post details.
Received a like on a post
- Display the name of the person who liked.
- Link to the post details.
Product testing
- Invitation to a product testing.
Display the name of the product.
Link to the product testing channel. - The product review has been accepted.
Link to the product testing channel.
Been tagged in a post or a comment
- Display the name of the person who tagged.
- Redirect to the post where you were tagged.
Moderation
- The user receives a notification when an admin deletes one of their contents (comment, pic, post), and the notification encourages them to check the community guidelines of the community (if yours don't have them, wording can be changed).
- The user receives a notification when their content has been automatically removed after 2 (or more if the limit is higher) reports from other users.
Notifications by subscription
👉 Subscription notifications: these are sent on a case-by-case basis. The topics for which you can receive notifications are:
- A discussion group
- An event channel
- A product testing channel
- A competition channel
- Any post shared by another user
How to subscribe to receive a notifications related to a specific topic
From sign up
Consent to receiving these notifications is collected when the user logs into the community for the first time upon account creation:
👉 By clicking "Enable", the user grants permission to receive transactional notifications AND notifications sent by admins. They can also give or withdraw their consent in their profile settings under "Notifications" - "Push Notifications".
Note
If a user opts-out from in app notifications, they will still receive email notifications related to their activity:
- When they win a new badge
- When they reach a new status…
From a specific channel
By going to the channel and enabling the notifications via the ring button
From a specific post
By clicking on the three dot on the post and clicking "Subscribe"
👉 If a user subscribes to at least one subscription notification, they are automatically subscribed to activity-related and communication notifications sent by admins as well.
Users can unsubscribe from these by editing their profile : Notifications > under “Followed topics”.
Notifications sent by admins
If a user consents to receiving in-app notifications (point 1), web push notifications (point 2), or both: they are also consenting to receiving notifications sent by admins.
How to send a notification
- In the back office, go to Animation, then click on Community notifications
- Type your text and preview the notification
- Press Select recipients. Then make sure to target only members who accepted to receive push notifications
- You can combine this with additional filters is you only want specific users to be notified:
- Filter by points
- Filter by event to notify only attendees
- Filter by product test to only notify testers
- Filter by Tag → add a tag to a specific user if you only want to notify one user
Activating web push notifications
Users can unable web push notifications to receive notifications in addition to their regular in app notifications. These can appear on your browser, even if you are not on the community platform - both for desktop and mobile.
This will apply to in app, subscription notifications and brand notifications sent by admins.

General Operating Procedure
Notifications are sent to the user only if they are not actively using the community, meaning their browser is not open on the community.
If a user declines notifications initially and later clicks to subscribe to a notification, they receive a message prompting them to check their settings (on desktop or mobile):
